poetry: If you want a relationship with me…

You’d better respect my “No."

If you want a relationship
that fills a hole
learn what it takes to move mountains

If you want a relationship
that feeds your soul
then learn to cook and clean

If you want a relationship
that lasts longer than it takes to walk away
then learn to take it slow

Show some self-control.
It’s not a race. It’s not a show.
And trust isn’t built by grabbing my ass.

My attention is not to be conquered
Nor am I a trophy to be won
What you get is gifted or none

Learn to speak to act from within
your kindest self
before you work with me

If you want a relationship
then Build your life yourself around
the art of an emphatic “Yes!”

(Also, stay hydrated … and drink less hooch)
