the mice people

they do not like how i act

or how i smell or move

what i think

they do not understand

a modicum of me,

and if we pass the time together

harassments all thell be

so small compared

so scared and ineffectual

for they are mice —

the poor thing foretold

beaten and forgot

a broken little pest

and, my dear, you and i

they run from us

the Ferocious felis cat
